June 24: with Neil "dummy" James:

Tonight saw the 200th meeting of our club, and to support the tone of the occasion our meeting was held in the drawing room at Crown.

Toasts were given by stand in Sergeant Sheena, with a special mention to Wendy Bennett whose birthday it was. Given past popularity in singing Wendy happy birthday in multiples, Sheena promised to fine anyone $10.00 for breaking that rule – suffice to say tonight was a successful fines session! The sergeant’s session included a guess the pass president competition.

President Arnold (along with his able PowerPoint assistant Barbara) gave us his speech to Overview of the year, the club and achievements. (Full extracts from his speech are available in the bulletin). For a club with such a small number of members we seemed to have made our mark on the Rotary world in 2003. Formally recognising the members of the club who are charter members, his speech ended with streamers flying.

To complete the proceedings a “who am I” competition was held with Sheena, Arnold, Wendy and Neil being the “dummies”!

The Rotary Liver Cell Bank is involved in raising funds for equipment at the new Stem Cell Therapy unit at the Royal Children's Hospital.
As part of this effort we will be holding a raffle of a rare football collectable of the Collingwood/Essendon drawn Anzac Day match in 1995.
The photo was taken from the MCC clock (recently demolished) and is signed by both coaches and captains of the day.
While the photo is of special interest to Essendon and Collingwood Members and Supporters it does have significance for those who appreciate special occasions such as the inaugural Anzac Day game!

Click here to view the photo in Adobe Acrobat (.pdf) format. For tickets please call Vic Parsons on 9337 2282 or 0148 135 232 or email rotaryraffle@hotmail.com

Hope you win it !!!
