Gabe's Message
As I write
this note, world population stands at roughly 6.7 billion
(6,700,000,000). At the same time, there are about 1.2 million
(1,200,000) Rotarians in the world. To put this into perspective,
on average you can expect to find just one (1) Rotarian in a
population of 5000.

Races - Call for Marshals!
Summer is coming and so are all the races
that need volunteers to make them happen!
RC Southbank has a tradition of sending
Sprint Marshals to help with a variety of roles during these
competitions. This is not just a fantastic opportunity for our
Club to raise some money it is also a great Fellowship Event.
If you are an early starter (marshal duty
normally begins around 6am in the morning), enjoy sports and a
day out, this is the kind of activity to go for!
Please have a look at the dates below and
get in touch with
Richard if you are available
for any of them.

cost of sponsoring a candidate is used to pay for venue hire,
speakers and catering throughout the program. The sponsoring
Rotary Club is also responsible for transporting the participant
to and from the camp.
RC Southbank is currently looking for a
potential candidate to nominate for this year's RYLA Camp in
December.

DG Jim Studebaker's Weekly Message
(Issue 20, 10 November 2008)
November is Foundation Month
"Our Foundation’s Future Vision Plan"
It’s
certainly been a very busy time leading into Christmas, and I have
thoroughly enjoyed all the club visits. Without exception, I have
received a warm and welcoming reception and have witnessed a keen
interest in Rotary all over our wonderful District.
Carol and I are now travelling to the Rotary Institute in
Christchurch, New Zealand. We will be away for most of next week.
The agenda for the Rotary Institute Program is certainly exciting,
with a number of great speakers and topics to be discussed. I am
certainly looking forward to making a contribution, as well as
learning about the achievements of other Districts. However, as
the oldest and largest District, we too have a lot of successes to
share with the participants at this Program.
This month, as it is Foundation month….
