Guest Speaker: Darren Williams, President - The Substation - Hobsons Bay Community Arts Centre.  Darren Williams is the founder and President of the project. A Newport resident and self-employed glazier, Darren has lead the group of committed volunteers to create a wonderful asset for the western region.

President Philip's Message

We have a very busy couple of months ahead of us and it would be great to see our Members and Friends of the Rotary Club of Southbank attend “Breakfast with the Pres”.  If you are interested, it will be this Thursday at 7 am for 7.15 am start at the Observatory Cafe, Botanical Gardens.  We seem to get a lot done at these breakfasts in resourcing projects and this coming week we will talk about work in progress on the website, the establishment of the Rotaract Club of Melbourne, the upcoming Community Service Excellence Awards, the business breakfasts, and other initiatives in Community and International Service.  Your input would be valued! ...

Troy spoke on a successful day for the Melbourne Summer Cycle to raise money for MS Society.  Over 5000 people participated in the 40 km cycle including the opportunity to ride over the Westgate bridge. ...

Congratulations to PDG Don Jago!

On Wednesday 24 February 2010, PDG Don Jago was presented with the Rotary Foundation Citation for Meritorious Service for his significant service to the Rotary Foundation over an extended period of time. 

The presentation of the award took place at PDG Don's club - RC Camberwell.  District Foundation Chair Chris Don outlined PDG Don's contributions to the Foundation and achievements over a number of Foundation projects before the award was presented to PDG Don by District Governor Colin Muir.  PDG Don received a standing ovation from those present!

PDG Don, our congratulations and heart felt thanks to you for all the work you have done promoting the Foundation in our District and our Zone!
